Antennsalen

2026

Performance 40 min
Copper coils, contact microphones, five speakers

Collaboration w/ Rebecca Larsson.

The Radiostation in Orlunda was transmitting Swedish National Radio between 1961 and 1991. In this concrete building there is a room called Antennsalen (the Antennahall) where the walls, floors and ceiling are covered in radiation reflecting copper. Inside the room there are big copper coils that were used for creating the strong electromagnetic radiation that carried the sounds in longwave radiowaves.

Today the copper are no longer serving the technology they were created for. In the performance the metal was put into vibration through friction and touch of the hand. The resonance were then in its rawness picked up by contact microphones and amplified out in the copper room, acoustically reflecting against the material.

As part of the piece Rebecca Larsson and Felicia Sjögren wrote two essays which were printed in a 100 pages hand binded riso publication together with archival pictures released by Altar.

Performance 9 May 2026, Orlunda Radiostation, in collaboration with Konstfrämjandet Östergötland. With support from Vadstena Kommun, Radiostiftelsen, Längmanska Stiftelsen.
